David Moyes

The Glaswegian is the bookies favourite, 11/8 ON is the best price, and it is understood the former Everton and Manchester United manager is the club's No1 target.

He gave an interview recently in which he stated his love for Celtic and refused to rule out taking the big job. This was no slip of the tongue. It was very deliberate.

Those who know Moyes have often said that even when his star was on the rise down south, he did talk about one day returning to place where his football career began. He would command authority and that is just what Celtic need right now. Hiring him would be a huge statement.

Neil Lennon

Only last week this Celtic icon, and make no mistake that is what Lennon is, said the "door was always open" for him to return one day. Did he mean one day soon?

Lennon's time as manager had its moments, both good and bad, but he was a success overall and his team played some really good football at times.

Whether it would be wise for him to go back is up for debate. What is not, however, is that he would hunt some of the players who don't have the bottle for the battle.

Michael O'Neill

If Celtic made an offer to the Northern Ireland manager, he would say yes. They would need to pay compensation, and wait until after his involvement with this summer's European Championships was over, but he could well be worth the wait,

Those who work with him now are in awe of his man-management. He has certainly got the best from an average bunch of players. Surely that means he is a perfect fit.

O'Neill is a smart man with a huge knowledge of every league in Europe. The hope would be that be brought more hits than misses in the transfer market.

Alan Stubbs

If the former Celtic player could lead Hibernian into the Premiership and do the unthinkable and take the Scottish Cup to Leith, he is worth at least looking at.

Perhaps the Liverpudlian is a too much of a novice and he has been bettered by Mark Warburton this season, but he does know the club and has the self-confidence to take on the job.

Stubbs has something about him and likes to see his team play attacking football.

Brendan Rodgers

Another who would cost money but the former Liverpool manager is a talent, even if his ego can make him look at times, well, a bit of twit.

He was a huge success at Swansea City and for the most part at Anfield as well. His teams always play good football, which is something the board have to consider when doing their shopping.

He is a big name and, like Moyes, appointing him would say a lot about the ambition at Parkhead.

Roy Keane

Come on, Dermot, Get Keano up It would be sheer entertainment if nothing else.

They wanted Keane two years ago. He said no and so by default Ronny Deila was appointed. Would the club go back to someone who had previously turned them down?

Keane would be a maverick, more a manager than a coach, and it could be argued that is what Celtic need. His press conferences would be standing room only.
