Leicester City fans face a nail-biting wait to see if the side pulls off one of the greatest triumphs in English football history and lifts the Premier League trophy.

The Foxes manager Claudio Ranieri will be the last person to know if his side are crowned champions on Monday because he will be returning from lunch with his 96-year-old mother in Italy.

Ranieri travelled to his homeland on Sunday evening, with his return flight at exactly the same time as Tottenham's trip to Chelsea which could hand Leicester the title if second-placed Spurs fail to win.

Hundreds of supporters packed into pubs and bars across the city to watch Sunday's game with Leicester fans knowing that a win would have seen them cap off an historic season.

Anthony Martial opened the scoring for Manchester United in the eighth minute before Wes Morgan got an equaliser for Leicester.

Fans leaving the Local Hero pub on Aylestone Road, Leicester, said they were pleased with the draw as it put the pressure on their title rivals.

Rick Woolmer, of Corby, a Leicester fan since 1963, said: "We could have won it, maybe we should have won it, and we're nearly there.

"Going to Old Trafford to win the Premier League is a big ask. I've been a lifelong Leicester fan and been through ups and downs and this is everything."

Dennis Mistry, 46, paid tribute to Ranieri for guiding the Foxes to within grasping distance of a league title.

He said: "Leicester played all the way, 100%. It's just been fantastic this season, fantastic players, fantastic manager and fantastic supporters."

Leicester City spent last season languishing at the bottom of the table and were expected by some to be relegated this year.

One Leicester-mad couple celebrated Ranieri's success in his first season by naming their baby after the Italian.

Lindsay and Jake Hill named their son, Daniel George Claudio Hill after he was born on Friday at 9.20am at Leicester Royal Infirmary.

Meanwhile ex-striker and Leicester fan Gary Lineker is preparing to present the first episode of next season's Match of the Day in his pants after he jokingly promised to do so in December if his former side went on to win the league.

Lineker tweeted after Sunday's game at Old Trafford that he had shared a joke with Ranieri about the dare.

He wrote: "Met Claudio Ranieri after the game. He said 'Gary, I don't want to see you do MOTD in your pants'. Yes you do, Claudio."
