MATT GILKS is reportedly in Glasgow for talks with Rangers ahead of a free transfer to Ibrox.

The 34-year-old's contract with Burnley expires at the end of the month and Gers manager Mark Warburton has confirmed they are in the market for a new keeper with Cammy Bell set to leave.

Widespread reports today say that the Scotland international has travelled to Glasgow to meet with the Light Blues and discuss a contract.

There were reports yesterday that Bell was set for a medical with Dundee United after growing frustrated at a lack of game time under Warburton.

The manager confirmed that the 29-year-old was likely to leave the club when asked by STV yesterday: "Negotiations are underway, he wants to play games," he said.

"He was superb for us last season as a more than able number two, but he wants more than that, understandably. We're looking for three or four and a goalkeeper will be one of those."

Gilks will be available for free and has a wealth of experience at Championship level in England, as well as three Scotland caps.

However, he only made one appearance for the Clarets last season, in the League Cup, after struggling for a place against England international Tom Heaton.

The goalkeeper has also starred in the Premier League, as he made 18 appearances for Blackpool in 2010/11, only missing out on more outings due to a fractured kneecap that ruled him out for four months.

Gilks has played for the Scottish national team three times, including coming off the bench for the injured David Marshall in a World Cup qualifier against Macedonia in September 2013, but has never played club football in Scotland.
