SCOTS Callum Skinner and Katie Archibald have been named in a 26-strong Team GB cycling team for the Rio Olympics, along with the likes of Mark Cavendish and Sir Bradley Wiggins.

The 23-year-old Skinner from Glasgow has been named in the men's track team alongside seven-time Olympic medallist Wiggins and 26-time Tour de France stage winner Cavendish.

Olympic medallists Jason Kenny, Ed Clancy, Philip Hindes and Steven Burke, along with Skinner's fellow debutant Owain Doull, complete the team.

Archibald from Milngavie has been included in the women's track team, where she will compete alongside Olympic champions Laura Trott and Joanna Rowsell Shand.

Becky James, Elinor Barker, Katy Marchant and Ciara Horne make up the rest of the track team.

Archibald missed the UCI Track World Championships in March after injuring herself in a 70mph motorbike crash in which she ruptured a posterior cruciate ligament and fractured her elbow.

Despite being criticised by then-British Cycling technical director Shane Sutton for putting herself in danger, she has bounced back in time to make the team for this summer's event in Brazil.

In the road teams, two-time Tour de France champion Chris Froome will race along with Pete Kennaugh, Ian Stannard, Geraint Thomas and Adam Yates.

Lizzie Armitstead provides the main hope in the women's team and she will be supported by Nikki Harris and Emma Pooley.

Liam Philips and Kyle Evans have also been named as the two-man men's BMX team.
