RANGERS manager Mark Warburton has revealed that the Ibrox club are still in the market for a striker and a defender, but warns that they want to avoid a bidding war.

The Light Blues have already added nine players to the squad this summer, but their boss believes a couple more reinforcements are still required.

Matt Gilks, Lee Hodson, Clint Hill, Jordan Rossiter, Joey Barton, Matt Crooks, Josh Windass, Joe Dodoo and Niko Kranjcar have all been brought in since the end of last season.

But Warburton claims the remaining targets for the club are yet to be identified by the rumour mill on social media.

"We have a number of targets, none of which are on Twitter and none of which have been released," he told Rangers TV.

“We would like another striking option and another defensive option in an ideal world but they have to be players who add value on and off the pitch and that’s really strong.

“This will only happen if the players we want are available, we are working on it but it’s a decreasing talent pool – Frank McParland and his team are working tirelessly.

“It is about us doing our work and going about our business quietly and under the radar because if we get embroiled in a bidding war we will lose.

“The players who have come in have mixed in really well with the existing group, which is why I am so strong on character.

“If we can get them then great and if we can’t then we won’t panic.”
