ASTANA have posted a video clip of an altercation involving Celtic's Leigh Griffiths on their Twitter account, claiming that the striker 'punched' defender Igor Shitov.

Griffiths got in a tangle with his marker during the second half of last night's Champions League qualifier in Kazakhstan and was shown a yellow card for lashing out at Shitov.

The forward went on to score the equalising goal of the 1-1 draw two minutes on from the incident, but the Kazakh champions have suggested the altercation merited a dismissal.

In the following post sent out by the club's account, assistant manager Grigori Babayan was quoted as saying 'Griffiths deserved a red card.'

After the game, Griffiths told reporters: "There was a bit of handbags and one of their men went down. Both of us could have been booked to be honest.

"The ref could have let it go but I was the one who got booked.

"But I managed to silence the crowd a few minutes later so it worked out fine."
