ANNA SIGNEUL, who has been Scotland women's manager for over 11 years, will have contract talks with Scottish FA chief executive Stewart Regan following next week's friendly against Netherlands in Livingston.
Walter Smith was the Scotland men's manager when Signeul replaced Vera Pauw in March, 2005. Since then Smith, Alex McLeish, George Burley and Craig Levein have come and gone.
The current manager, Gordon Strachan, could also depart while Signeul is still in post depending on the outcome of next month's World Cup qualifier against England at Wembley.
The Swede's contract runs out in December, but, having guided Scotland into Euro 2017, it seems inconceivable she will not be in charge when the tournament gets underway on July 16 in Utrecht.
“Stewart has said we need to sit down, but that hasn't been the priority for either of us. There has been so much going on.” Signeul pointed out.
“I would like to be in Holland next summer. I don't expect it, but I would like to be there.”
Signeul's 22-player squad for Thursday night's game against the Euro hosts at the Tony Macaroni Arena does not include Kim Little or Rachel Corsie.
Little has a hamstring problem while Corsie is nursing a knee injury. Both play for Seattle Reign, whose season has ended, and Signeul believes a prolonged rest is the best option for both of them.
There is also no place for Hibernian striker Abi Harrison, who scored a spectacular goal against Bayern Munich on Wednesday – but Signeul said the teenager will join in the pre-match training sessions.
She said: “The players are buzzing still from having qualified for the Euros even if there is disappointment that Glasgow City didn't go through in the Champions League on Thursday night.”
Holland are one of the four pot one seeds next summer and Signeul said the friendly would be a useful benchmark for her side.
The Euro draw is on November 8 and Scotland are in pot three alongside Denmark, Iceland and Italy.
