MARCUS HABER last night insisted he's ready to help fire Dundee away from the Premiership basement zone.

The 27-year-old Canadian international has signed for Paul Hartley's men until the end of the season following a spell with Crew Alexandria.

And the former St Johnstone striker insists he's relishing the challenge to move the Taysiders up the table as he prepares to make his debut in tonight's clash with Partick Thistle at Dens Park.

Haber said: "I'm definitely happy to be back in Scotland.

"It's a fresh start here at Dundee so I'm looking forward to it.

"Morale is still high among the lads.

"We're all focused on the same thing and there's not much in this league in terms of points compared to the other teams.

"If we can get two positive results this week, it can all change.

"Having two games in quick succession gives us a good chance to put the last few games behind us.

"We are focusing on playing at home first and foremost against Thistle in what is a very winnable match."

Haber has experienced relegation dogfights in the past but is sure it won;'t come to that with his new club.

He said: "I've been in relegation fights before with other clubs – some successful and others not.

"It takes a lot of mental focus and graft.

"Mentally it's about trusting your ability and bouncing back from results and staying focused.

"It builds character but the lads are confident we can move up the table and we're only 10 games into the season.

"I am ready to play and there's no reason to panic.

"I've been fit for a while and have been away with the national team.

"Also, I've got a full week's training under my belt

"If I'm called upon, I think I can do well.

"Like any striker, you pride yourself on scoring goals.

"I'm not trying to get ahead of myself but I'll just work hard and try to do a good job for the team."
