FORMER Rangers striker Ally McCoist says it would 'crazy' for the club to replace manager Mark Warburton after a difficult start to the season.

The former Brentford boss won the Championship title at a canter last year, but his side currently occupy fifth place in the top-flight table and have lost both of their meetings with rivals Celtic so far.

But McCoist, who scored more than 250 goals for the Light Blues before leading them to the Third Division and League One titles as manager, isn't surprised by the situation the Gers are in and believes a change in the dugout would be the wrong way to go.

"There's no point in changing things, he's got to be given a chance," McCoist said.

"He had a good season last year, winning that league in a competitive division. Where Rangers are at the moment doesn't surprise me. I expected it, to be brutally honest.

"It's not a major shock to me at the moment, because I thought that would be the case, unless they went out and spent a lot of money.

"You're not going to change managers. It would be crazy, at this stage."
