Celtic received NO formal bid from Chelsea last night for Moussa Dembele, despite reports circulating from French media sources suggesting that the Premiership league leaders had tabled a £40m offer.

Sources within the Parkhead club maintained that there has been no offer for the 19-year-old striker and the player himself took to social media platform Twitter to post notice of his own enjoyment regarding the speculation over his future, with a little help from Hollywood icon Leonardo di Caprio.

Posting a snap of himself in a Hoops shirt with a Leonardo di Caprio Wolf Of Wall Street image below it, he wrote “What else?," a reference to a scene in the film where the actor's character insists, in the vernacular of the street, that he is staying put.

Dembele sparked the first frantic calls of the day when he was photographed boarding a flight to London, only for Celtic to confirm that the player was on his way to see Dr Andy Williams, a knee specialist that the club use who is based south of the border.

Celtic signed Dembele for just £500k from Fulham last summer but the player has been linked with a move back to England following his displays for the Parkhead side in the UEFA Champions League group stages as well as his prolific form; the teenager has netted 20 goals in 38 appearances so far this season.

Chelsea noted their interest in the striker but are believed to have ran out of time to table an offer. It is anticipated that their will be a firm offer this summer to take the player to Stamford Bridge, but certainly the striker will be in Glasgow until the end of the season at least.

And Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers was as good as his word yesterday as the Parkhead side firmly closed the door on Chelsea’s interest in Craig Gordon.

The Premiership league leaders were firmly rebuffed in their efforts to land Scotland internationalist, with the Parkhead side believing that the London club never came close to meeting their valuation of the player.

Rodgers has stated repeatedly and unambiguously since news emerged last Wednesday of Chelsea’s interest in the Celtic goalkeeper that he would not be sold in the current window – and Gordon is set to be rewarded with a bumper new deal over the coming days by the Parkhead club.

Sources close to Chelsea indicated that there was a £50k per-week offer on the table for the goalkeeper who is believed to be in line now for a four-year deal from Celtic where he will at least double his current £12k-a-week salary.

Erik Sviatchenko followed Dembele’s lead by taking to Twitter to post photographs underlining his commitment to remaining at Celtic. The Danish defender had met with agent in Glasgow yesterday afternoon but it was later claimed that the meeting had been in the offing for some time.

Leicester were believed to be interested Sviatchenko but he too will remain in the Hoops.

Efe Ambrose clinched a move to Blackburn Rovers on loan until the end of the season. But Kris Commons is staying put until the end of the season while Celtic back-up keeper Leo Fasan has made the switch to Port Vale on loan - replacing new Rangers keeper Jak Alnwick.

Meanwhile, Motherwell were working last night to get Nadir Ciftic into Fir Park but as the midnight hour ticked down it appeared unlikely a move would be agreed.
