SCOTLAND will face Italy at a sold-out Murrayfield for the first time next month, Scottish Rugby has announced.

Vern Cotter's side recorded their second win in three games against Wales in Edinburgh on Saturday and now must travel to take on England at Twickenham before hosting the Italians on 18 March.

It will be the first time since the Azzurri entered the competition in 2000 that a capacity crowd will fill the national stadium, as the Scots chase a perfect home record following wins against the Welsh and Ireland.

Murrayfield's 67,144 seats will be filled for the game, breaking the previous record attendance of 62,188 from two years ago.

"I’m delighted to announce this commercial first for Scottish Rugby, following the national team's impressive win against Wales on Saturday," said Scottish Rugby's Chief Operating Officer Dominic McKay.

"It’s clear their performances and exciting brand of rugby are connecting with the public, with their hard work and attacking mentality recognised once again with record-breaking support.

"We have worked incredibly hard to engage and develop a real connection with our fans over recent seasons and to sell-out all three RBS 6 Nations matches at BT Murrayfield for the first time is a fantastic acheivement.
