ROSS COUNTY defender Kenny Van der Weg has shot down claims he is bored living in Dingwall, insisting he wants to stay at the Highland club.

Van der Weg was alleged to have told a Dutch journalist he was unhappy in the area and ready to seek a move away.

But the Dutchman has hit back at the claims, saying he has been misquoted and has no plans to move on.

“Everything was mistranslated,” Van der Weg told Moray Firth Radio.

“When you read the text in the Dutch magazine you can see there’s a big difference.”

“They wanted to know how we were feeling living in the Highlands, the article was called ‘Kenny and Alex [Schalk] in Wonderland’.”

Quotes attributed to the 26-year-old left-back apparently revealed that he was fed up with the seclusion of Dingwall, having moved from bustling Rotterdam last summer.

The former NAC Breda man has been quick to set the record straight, and maintained that he has a good relationship with Staggies boss Jim McIntyre.

He said: “The gaffer believes in me and that is the most important thing, I am happy here.”

Ross County travel to Firhill to take on Partick Thistle on Saturday, as they look to haul themselves out of a relegation scrap, sitting only four points above the drop zone.
