FORMER Dundee United full-back Andy Robertson is on the verge of a £10m switch to Liverpool.

The Tayside club are set to receive around £500,000 from the defender’s fee after selling him to Hull City in 2014.

Robertson has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks and the Liverpool Echo reported on Wednesday that a fee had been agreed with Hull.

The money from the deal will come as a vital financial boost to Dundee United as they prepare for another season out of the top flight.

Manager Ray McKinnon said that while the windfall would be “great news” for the club, he admitted he did not expect any further transfer funds as a result.

He told The Courier: “I think there are a lot of bills to be paid after relegation. I think that’s probably where that money will go.

“That’s just where we are at Dundee United just now. It’s a fact of life. I’d like to think I might get a tiny bit but I do understand to keep the club running and afloat whatever we get will have to go somewhere else.

“That’s part and parcel of being the Dundee United manager.

“It will be brilliant to get some money in which will help the club and maybe help us achieve what we all want – to get back to the Premiership.”
