RANGERS will have to wait until January to clinch a move for winger Jamie Walker after the transfer window closed without him making the switch to Ibrox.

Boss Pedro Caixinha completed his eleventh signing of the summer as defender Declan John put pen-to-paper on a season-long loan move from Cardiff City.

But there were no further arrivals on Thursday night as Hearts stood firm in their attempts to retain the services of Walker this term.

Rangers were rebuffed by the Jambos board earlier in the window and Hearts placed a £1million price tag on their most prized asset.

That was beyond the Light Blues’ valuation of the forward, though, and no agreement was reached during the final few hours of dealing.

Walker has informed Hearts that he won’t sign a new contract to keep him at Tynecastle beyond the end of the season and he will be free to sign a Bosman deal in January.

The failure to land the 24-year-old is a blow to boss Caixinha as he looks to recover from a shaky start to the campaign but it has been a productive few months of wheeling and dealing for the Portuguese.

Striker Joe Dodoo became the 12th player to head for the Ibrox exit door last night as he completed a move to Charlton just before the 11pm deadline in England.

Dodoo will spend the first half of the campaign at The Valley and boss Karl Robinson said: “We have been looking for a striker that can complement what we already have. We have a big number nine in Josh Magennis and Joe gives us something different. I think fans will like him, he is quick, can stretch the game and get in behind defenders.”
