ALFREDO MORELOS hopes he can become an Old Firm hero when he makes his derby bow against Celtic.

The striker has emerged as a firm favourite with Rangers fans in the opening weeks of the campaign as he has made an impressive start to life in Light Blue.

And he is determined to give the Ibrox crowd another reason to celebrate as he looks to fire Pedro Caixinha’s side to victory on Saturday.

He said: "My aim at Rangers is to be league champions. So far, I've scored eight goals and I have started well.

"I want to make history with Rangers, I want to win the title this year and I want to make sure the Rangers fans are happy.

"When I meet them, they always ask me to score against Celtic. They tell me if I score the winner against them, they will get my name tattooed onto their skin!

"This weekend, we play Celtic for the first time this season and I cannot wait for that. It's one of the biggest and most famous Classics in the world.

"Both us and the supporters are looking forward to the game. Our fans won't accept us losing to Celtic and neither do we. We have to beat them.

"Rangers have a really good team with the likes of Bruno Alves and some top Mexican players. I have a good friendship with Carlos Pena and Eduardo Herrera already."

Morelos was on target once again as Rangers dropped two Premiership points against Partick Thistle on Friday night.

And he will lead the line for Caixinha’s side as they return to the Energy Check at Firhill Stadium for a Betfred Cup quarter-final clash.

Morelos said: "I think the Scottish game has suited me. I enjoy the physical side of the game and I think I have become quicker and more powerful since joining Rangers. I also think I do well in the air.

"In Scotland, teams don't want me to receive the ball in the penalty box because they know I am very dangerous.

"Since I arrived in Scotland, it has been a very nice experience, I felt very happy at this club from the first day I arrived.”
