ROSS MCCRORIE admits his Rangers debut was a dream come true after he was handed his Light Blues bow against Partick Thistle on Tuesday night.

The defender replaced Bruno Alves during the second half of the Firhill win and helped Pedro Caixinha’s side into the last four of the Betfred Cup.

Now he could be in line to feature against Celtic this weekend after an impressive performance on his maiden appearance for the Gers.

McCrorie was tipped to go and have a bright future for club and country by Caixinha in the aftermath of a crucial 3-1 extra time success.

And the 19-year-old relished the chance to impress alongside Fabio Cardoso at the heart of the Gers back four.

“It is a dream come true, honestly it is the best thing that has happened to me in my life,” he told RangersTV. “I am just buzzing and happy to make my family proud.

“I thought I done well but I was disappointed to lose the goal because I was wanting a clean sheet.

“But it was a good result in the end, the boys dug in and did brilliantly.

“I played with [Cardoso] a couple of times in the pre-season games so I know exactly what he is like and I train with him every day. Fabio is a brilliant player and is good to play alongside.

“He (Caixinha) was telling me he was going to change the formation and put Jason Holt and Ryan Jack deeper. He said to me to just go out and enjoy it.

“It was brilliant, just a brilliant feeling when I went on. When big Eduardo slotted the third one, it was magnificent the feeling and seeing all the fans up, it was just brilliant. I can’t describe how good it was.

“Hopefully I can keep getting as many games as I can and keep impressing the gaffer. I will just take it from there and see what happens.”
