LEIGH Griffiths has insisted he is not in a huff over being dropped to the Celtic bench for recent games.

The Scotland striker has not featured in the Hoops' last three matches, finding himself behind Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard in the pecking order.

Brendan Rodgers said on Tuesday that there was 'no story' behind the decision to leave out Griffiths, who has scored five Premiership goals in 12 appearances this season.

And responding to a Scottish Sun headline on Twitter, the 27-year-old denied he has been put out by his spell on the sidelines.

The headline read 'Brendan Rodgers: I don't know whether Leigh Griffiths has taken the huff over lack of first-team action', to which the striker responded: "Here's your answer...NAW I've no!"

When asked about Griffiths' absence during a press conference on Tuesday, Rodgers said:  “There’s no story in it. I’m picking what I think is the best team.

"Odsonne is coming off a hat-trick against Motherwell where he was brilliant and performed well when he came into the team in the Champions league game.

“It’s about picking players in a good moment and it’s a long season. Leigh is a fantastic young striker for us and what I have now is three players who can contribute depending on what type of game I need to play.

“Moussa and Leigh have their qualities and Odsonne is a combination of both and I thought he did well against Hibs.”
