Scotland hooker Fraser Brown has become the latest Glasgow Warrior to express his confidence in the team’s new management by agreeing to extend his contract with the club.

The 28-year-old has signed a two-year deal, following hard on the heels of fellow Scotland caps Jonny Gray, Ali Price and Nick Grigg, as well as Fijian international Niko Matawalu who have all recently agreed new deals and he said it was an easy decision.

“I wanted to stay here. I’m very happy with the rugby and it’s been really good working with the new coaching set-up at the start of the year,” he said.

“Jen, my fiancé and I talked at the beginning of the year about how we wanted to stay here and it’s just about getting things right to make that possible.”

Brown’s hooking battle with Edinburgh captain Stuart ‘Rambo’ McInally meanwhile promises to be one of the features of today’s Inter-City derby at Murrayfield and after his opposite number impressed during the recent autumn internationals he is relishing the prospect of trying to get one over him.

“It’ll be fun,” said Brown.

“I thought Stuart played really well in the autumn and grasped his chance with both hands.

“So the next games are going to be really good as a head-to-head. I always think it’s really dangerous when people come into these two games and say ‘it’s selection on the line’ because they forgetting that there are another 28 games in the season, but it’s a good challenge and it’ll be good to see where I am in terms of coming back from fitness. I’m sure Stuart will want to see where he’s at.”
