Queen of the South's Stephen Dobbie has been named the Championship Player of the Month for December.

The veteran striker beat the likes of Gavin Reilly and Lewis Morgan to the award after hitting five goals in only four games for the Doonhamers.

It's been a dream return to Scotland for Dobbie, with the former Swansea City and Brighton and Hove Albion player reaching the landmark total of 100 goals for Queens after netting in the club's 3-2 win over St Mirren in December.

It makes him only the fifth player in the club's history to reach the landmark, following Jim Patterson, Bobby Black, Andy Thomson, and current teammate, Derek Lyle.

Having come through the youth ranks at Rangers, Dobbie made his professional debut for Hibs in 2003 and played for St Johnstone and Dumbarton before first moving to Queens in 2007.

After a purple patch in Dumfries, the player moved south to then Championship club Swansea.  He later enjoyed spells at Crystal Palace, Fleetwood Town and finally Bolton Wanderers, before returning to his former club in the summer.

He has enjoyed a resurgent return to form this season, hitting 11 goals in just 19 league games to fire Queens into the playoff places.
