LEE Wallace and Kenny Miller are still in the dark over their Rangers future 72 hours after being suspended.

The duo were summoned to a meeting with Ibrox managing director Stewart Robertson on Tuesday, after they were alleged to have criticised manager Graeme Murty in the Hampden changing room following Sunday’s 4-0 defeat to Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final.

There, they were told in a short meeting that the full reasons for the disciplinary action taken against them would be spelled out in a letter, but three days later, neither player has received anything in the post from Rangers.

A source close to both Scotland internationalists told Herald Sport: “Both players were unsure as to why matters had escalated as they had done when they were both summoned to Ibrox on Tuesday. They are still no further forward.

“It has been claimed that neither player will play for Rangers again but this has not been put in writing to either of them.”

The circumstances of the explosive aftermath of Sunday’s heavy defeat to Celtic have emerged while Rangers continue to conduct their own investigation.

Herald Sport has learned that a verbal tirade was launched by Wallace while Murty was not in the main body of the changing room as his captain took several to task. This is understood to have included criticisms of personal performances to match preparation and training.

It was towards the end of this vent that Murty walked back into the changing room as Wallace was delivering his dressing down. As the Rangers manager interjected, team-mate Miller briefly said a few words in support of the club captain’s stance.

Both players are mystified – particularly in the case of Miller who it is believed barely spoke – as to how their actions came to merit the disciplinary action the club has taken.
