FIR Park kid Allan Campbell is confident Motherwell can go from strength to strength next term despite ending the campaign on a low note at Hampden.

Stephen Robinson’s side were beaten in the Scottish Cup final as Celtic secured back-to-back Trebles.

Goals from Callum McGregor and Olivier Ntcham proved the difference but the Steelmen were never really in it as they failed to fire.

Motherwell lost the League Cup by the same scoreline back in November.

But Campbell is determined to bounce back from the double disappointment and help Well go again under Robinson’s guidance next time out.

He said: “It was a good finish from Callum McGregor for their goal but we had a lot of time after that to get back in the game but we were unlucky.

“The first 25 minutes just killed us and unfortunately the last 65 minutes we couldn’t get in their faces.

“We just need to pick ourselves up.

“We reached two finals and it’s devastating that we didn’t win any of them but we just need to be proud of what we’ve done, pick ourselves up and go one better next season.

“I’m just gutted we couldn’t do it for the fans and staff.

“A lot of boys have signed new contracts and if we keep the togetherness then we’ll be fine.

“The dressing room is brilliant. We fight as a team and I’m sure the core of the team will stay together and if the gaffer brings in a few new faces then that can only help.

“The manager told us that as heartbreaking as it was that we have to try and take the positives. He said we did him proud but he just wished we could have won.”
