STEVEN GERRARD is not pursuing a move to bring former Liverpool team-mate Martin Skrtel to Ibrox.

It is understood that the defender is not on the list of potential recruits that Rangers are targeting this summer as boss Gerrard looks to overhaul his squad ahead of the Europa League qualifiers and new Premiership campaign.

The Gers have already completed deals for Scott Arfield and Allan McGregor, who have joined from Burnley and Hull City respectively.

But Skrtel, who moved to Fenerbahce from Anfield two years ago, won’t be following the pair into Ibrox this term.

The 33-year-old spent several seasons playing alongside Gerrard on Merseyside and is one of a host of names that have been linked with a deal since the Reds legend was appointed earlier this month.

Gerrard could return to his former club to look to do a loan deal for winger Harry Wilson but it is believed that the swoop for the 18-year-old is not imminent at present.

Wilson made 14 appearances and scored seven times for Hull in the second half of last season after moving from Liverpool on loan.

Gerrard knows the forward well from his time as Under-18 coach and he is one of the names on an extensive list of targets this summer.
