NEIL Lennon has told SFA chief executive Ian Maxwell that communication with managers, players and clubs is a major priority for him.

The Hibernian manager has long lamented the lack of dialogue to come from the corridors of power at Hamden and he hopes things are about to change for the better.

Lennon said: "In the main, if you look at a lot of associations and even the likes of FIFA and UEFA who have Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Zvonimir Boban, they have a jist of what football team are thinking and it can only be positive.

“I wish Ian Maxwell well. He’s very well thought of in the game. It’s a big job for him but he’s well prepared.

“Hopefully he can improve communication because there is none (right now), and these are the people who are making the laws and rules.

"He is someone who understands what you are going through.

“And if they bring in new legislation then he can explain it in layman’s terms rather than going through the whole jargon.

“It’s an important job, a much-maligned job in recent years, so hopefully he can bring a bit of respectability back to it.

“Malky Mackay is in there now and was talking about the Project Brave stuff and he gave us an indication of what is required and hopefully it will be the same with Ian as well."
