FORMER Celtic midfielder Liam Henderson could be set for a move to Serie A after Parma made a £1m offer for him.

The 22-year-old has been a major success since his surprise January move to Italy to play with Bari in Serie B.

Bari are currently involved in the play-offs and they hope to secure promotion. But even if they don't, it seems likely Henderson will be the first Scot to play in Serie A since Graeme Souness last did it with Sampdoria in 1986.

Parma have just secured an emotional return to Serie A – their first since the club was reformed as Parma 1913 when they were declared bankrupt three years ago.

They have secured three promotions in a row to get to the top flight and club president, Jiang Lizhang, has money to spend.

And they have slapped in an offer for Henderson, who cost Bari just £120,000 when the former Hibs loan star went to Italy earlier this year.

If Henderson managed to win promotion with Bari, it would add to his already impressive cv.

He's won one Ladbrokes Premiership medal and a League Cup with Celtic, a Scottish Cup with Hibs and a Norwegian title and Cup with Rosenborg all in the past three years, with Henderson spending time on loan from Celtic at Easter Road and Trondheim.

Another player possibly on the move is Scotland international Barrie McKay, who could be set for a shock switch to Greece with Olympiacos poised to pounce.

The former Rangers winger started the season well with new club Nottingham Forest after Mark Warburton signed him from his old club for £500,000, but has struggled since Aitior Karanka took charge of Forest and has made just four appearances in 2018.

That has alerted Olympiacos, who lost their Greek title this season after seven wins in a row.

Forest are believed to want McKay off their wage books and he could be keen on a move abroad.

McKay made over 100 appearances for Rangers before moving down south. Now he could be heading abroad with the Piraeus outfit.
