And that means they are one of the teams that Steven Gerrard’s side could be drawn against as he prepares to get down to business at Ibrox and looks to avoid a shock exit this term.

The draws for the first and second rounds will be made on June 19, with the first ties taking place on July 12 and 19.

Hibernian will also enter at the first round and, like Rangers, will be seeded at this stage so will avoid the likes of Maccabi Tel Aviv, Lech Poznan and Maribor.

The Dons could be handed tough clashes with five-time winners Sevilla, Turkish side Besiktas or Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig.

Burnley, who finished seventh in the Premier League this season, will also be in the hat as they return to European action once again.
