STEVEN Gerrard is set to clinch his tenth signing of the summer as Liverpool winger Ryan Kent edges closer to a loan switch to Ibrox.

Former Anfield Under-18s boss Gerrard has already returned to Merseyside and completed a move for Reds midfielder Ovie Ejaria after he penned a deal until the end of the campaign.

And Herald Sport understands that Kent is now on course to follow him across the border and sign on the dotted line with the Ibrox club.

The 21-year-old has had spells at Coventry City, Barnsley, SC Freiburg and Bristol City in recent years as he has gained vital first-team experience.

The arrival of Kent is a boost for Gerrard as he looks to add further strength and depth to his squad in the aftermath of the Europa League win over FK Shkupi.

But it appears there will be no place in the Light Blues squad for midfielder Greg Docherty as Rangers look to send him out on loan this term.

The 21-year-old made a substitute appearance in the friendly win over Bury but didn’t feature in either leg of the Shkupi tie.

Docherty could now clinch a temporary switch away from Rangers, with Sunderland a possible destination as former St Mirren boss Jack Ross looks to lead the Black Cats to promotion back to the Championship this term.
