LAURA MUIR

With Muir likely to still be on a high after claiming her first-ever senior major championship gold medal at the European Championships, the 25-year-old is attempting break Dame Kelly Holmes’ British 1000m record of 2 minutes 32.55 seconds today.

The Scot has already bettered Holmes’ indoor mark at the distance this season and given the form Muir is currently in, we could well see another of the Englishwoman’s record’s fall.

DINA ASHER-SMITH

The Englishwoman was one of the stars of last week’s European Championships, winning triple gold but she faces a stiffer test today of she is to emerge with another victory. The 200m field could be considered the best sprint race of the year with Asher-Smith up against Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Shaunae Miller-Uibo, and Marie-Josee Ta Lou.

EILISH MCCOLGAN

McColgan’s silver medal in the 5000m at the European Championships was one of the highlights of the meet and the 27-year-old is back in action today, this time in the 3000m.

This is a high-class field, which includes the Kenyan pair of Hellen Obiri and Agnes Tirop but McColgan will be keen to put in a strong performance as she targets a Diamond League Finals place.

JAKE WIGHTMAN

Wightman certainly knows how to bring out his best when it matters. The 24-year-old has picked up silverware in the 1500m at both the Commonwealth Games and the European Championships this season although at today’s Diamond League, he will race in the 800m. With only two seconds between the fastest athlete in the field and the slowest, a tight finish is guaranteed.

NOAH LYLES

The American is the fastest man in the world this year with a time of 9.88 seconds and is favourite to take another win in the 100m today. However, the final race of the day promises to be a thriller as he will face his compatriot, Christian Coleman as well as the best of British, Zharnel Hughes, Reece Prescod and Adam Gemili.
