Neil Lennon has continued bolstering his Hibernian midfield by signing experienced Australia international Mark Milligan.

Milligan has signed a two-year contract after joining from Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia. The 33-year-old has 71 international caps and played in all three of Australia's games during the World Cup in Russia.

Milligan joins international team-mate Jamie Maclaren at Easter Road and makes Scotland the latest place in a footballing journey that has included stops in China, Japan and the United Arab Emirates.

He told Hibs' official website: "I am delighted to have joined Hibernian. I know it's a big club with an exciting young squad, and I hope to be able to add to that with my experience.

"Jamie obviously did well here last year and gave Hibs a bit of a profile back home - everyone there is pretty familiar with the Scottish game and I'm excited to now be a part of that.

"The team have had a good start to the season with the run in Europe and I'm looking forward to joining up with the squad and getting going."

Lennon has now signed three midfielders since John McGinn departed for Aston Villa with Milligan following Emerson Hyndman and Daryl Horgan through the door.

His arrival comes on the back of the loss of Marvin Bartley for up to eight weeks after the Englishman tore his hamstring during Thursday's 3-0 Europa League defeat by Molde.

Milligan will need to secure a work permit before he can make his debut but there was good news on that front for Hibs after former Manchester City winger Thomas Agyepong was awarded his visa.

The Ghana international is now available for selection for Sunday's Betfred Cup second-round clash against Ross County, while Horgan comes back into contention after being ineligible for the game in Norway.

There will be some familiar faces in the opposition ranks as County travel to Easter Road on the back of two victories from their opening two Ladbrokes Championship matches.

The Dingwall side include former Hibs players Keith Watson, Liam Fontaine and Brian Graham in their ranks and could hand a debut to ex-Hearts midfielder Don Cowie, whose Edinburgh derby strike knocked the Leith side out of the Scottish Cup last season.

Watson is relishing his return to Easter Road.

The defender told his club's online channel: "It's a great stadium to go and play at, a big club, and it could be a full house as well.

"It's got all the makings of a good tie. We are playing well and they are coming off the back of a disappointing European result and will be looking to hit back, so I am really looking forward to it."
