IT started with a heatwave that saw Glasgow warmer than Barcelona, but dark clouds are gathering over the Commonwealth Games as rain is forecast in the remaining three days.
While Usain Bolt may not think much of the Scottish weather, fans heading to events were more upbeat about this week's cooler, wetter conditions.
Dr Tim Hely, 41, was visiting Glasgow from Edinburgh with his son Kai, 10, and Maia, 14, and had watched netball and badminton matches, and had tickets for the athletics.
He said: "The weather at the start of the Games was so fantastic. It could have rained for the rest of the time and it would still have been a great Games.
"It was perfect for the marathon on Sunday and the road race. And the odd bit of rain certainly hasn't dampened the fans' spirits.
"People should expect this type of weather in Scotland at this time of year. It's not Greece."
Catriona Welch, 26, and Elizabeth McGillivray, 27, were unsympathetic to complaints about the weather in their home city.
Ms Welch said: "It's been amazing this week. It started off so warm and, although it got cooler, it's never been cold. I don't think you could complain about weather like this at this time of year."
Amy Holt, 32, travelled from London to Glasgow along with friend Georgina Foggin, 32, to watch the athletics at Hampden. She said: "The weather has been better than I expected. It's been positively balmy. We've been outside sipping gin and tonics."
Georgina added: "Maybe Usain Bolt just hasn't acclimatised to the UK? He's from Jamaica, so it's probably not what he's used to.
"We've really been enjoying our visit. Neither of us have been to Glasgow before but it's been very nice."
Sports fans Ann Wanklyn, 52, and Jayne Ody, 42, from Maesteg, Wales, have been in Glasgow for a week, taking in the action at Hampden, the SECC and the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.
Ann said: "It's been brilliant. I've not had to wear a coat and I've only been caught in the rain once when I was queuing to get into Hampden.
"It's been very warm inside the venues and, although you do get a bit chill when you are sitting outside in the evening, I don't think it's any different than what I would expect at this time of year."
However, Susan Jackson, 47, from Liversedge, West Yorkshire, said: "I'd agree with Usain - it's been rubbish and has rained every day I've been here.
"I had to go out and buy extra thermal underwear just to stay warm.
"We arrived after the hot spell everyone has been talking about, and it's been cold every night."
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
