After the relative order of the team event which ended yesterday with Singapore's men matching their women by claiming the gold medal, Scotstoun will be a frenzy of activity for the next few days as the individual events get under way and more than 150 matches take place.

In the singles Gavin Rumgay, the long-standing Scottish men's No.1, is the only home player guaranteed a place in the knockout stages as the 15th of the 16th seeds.

In order to join him Craig Howieson, who shocked his compatriot when beating him for the first time to win the national title in January, and Sean Doherty will have to work their way through the round-robin preliminary stages, as must Lynda Flaws, Gillian Edwards and Corinna Whitaker in the women's singles.

Rumgay and Howieson will also team up in the men's doubles. They have a bye into the second round, while Doherty and Neil Cameron will face New Zealand pair Teng Teng Liu and Philip Xiao in the first round.

In the women's doubles Flaws and Whitaker face Papua New Guinea's Geru Lohia and Eileen Tongia in a first round tie while in the mixed Doherty and Whitaker have been given a bye into the second round where they will meet Sri Lankans Rohan Srisena and Ishara Madurangi.
