Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, Cathkin Braes Mountain Bike Trail, city wide, July 24 to August 3

With a mixture of endurance, technical skill and a tactical approach, the cycling events at Glasgow 2014 should deliver some of the most enthralling contests of the games. Taking place in three disciplines over a week, cycling will have Glasgow gripped.

Mountain - Cathkin Braes Mountain Bike Trails

This cross-country course, which has been made purposely for the Games, will test the endurance of the cyclists on its challenging terrain.

Road - City wide

The road races and time trials will take place across the city as the athletes pedal towards their dream of a golden finish.

Track - Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome

The track events have the potential to be the most exciting of all. Scotland has a great pedigree in the sport - the fact that events will take place in the velodrome named after six-time Olympic gold medallist Sir Chris Hoy says it all. Although Sir Chris won't be competing at Glasgow 2014, the Olympic champion will no doubt be there as a spectator.

The Big Event

The Team Pursuit at the Velodrome - both the men's and women's events should be fantastic.

Don't Miss

The road race and time trial events as they make their way through the city. The event is likely to attract huge numbers of fans along the route, and with the likes of Sir Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish to compete, it could be one of the biggest days of the Games.

Scot to Watch

Currently the British sprint champion, Glasgow-born Callum Skinner was inspired to take up the sport while watching Sir Chris Hoy win Gold at the Melbourne Games in 2006. The 21-year-old has since trained alongside his hero in Manchester, and following a fouth-place finish in Delhi four years ago, hopes to achieve great things in Glasgow.
