With two weeks to go until the Games, it's time to get chatting with a top pick of Rugby Sevens fans eager to share their growing excitement around this summer's fast, furious and hotly anticipated tournament.

Name: Billy Blue

Age: 47

Location: Erskine, Renfrewshire

Rugby background as a player: I've played for Camphill HS, Paisley RFC, West of Scotland FC, East Grinstead RFC, and Greenock Wanderers RFC.

Rugby background as a fan: I've been a rugby fan since I first started playing at high school. As well as the national team, I'm a big fan of Glasgow Warriors. But I'll mostly be seen supporting Greenock Wanderers these days.

What Rugby Sevens teams/players are you looking forward to seeing perform at the Commonwealth Games?

Apart from Scotland, it will be great to see five of the top world-ranking teams compete. Scotland will find it tough drawn in the same group as New Zealand and Canada.

Do you think the Rugby Sevens at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games will provide a positive legacy for the sport in Scotland in the future?

Definitely. Scottish rugby has been in the shadows for some years now and only in recent months has there been some sort of glimmer of hope with Scotland 7's performance at the World Series Glasgow 7's and Glasgow Warriors reaching the final of the Pro12. The SRU need to capitalise on these opportunities and get more people involved in the game at all levels and encourage real long term development.

Name: Elaine Limond

Age: 34

Location: Birmingham, West Midlands

Rugby background as a player: I've been 14 years in the women's game mostly in England, with one season in Canada, playing at Championship 1 Level. I've played with Camphill in the Midlands for seven years and a few clubs in the North East whilst at university there.

I'm now a coach for the Midlands Division women's game and men's 1st team based in Coventry. I coached England's Midlands 7s team at the UK Schools Games in 2011 and 2013, where we achieved a bronze and winners' plate respectively.

Rugby background as a fan: Playing and coaching equally, I started playing a non-league season for East Kilbride before university and it took off from there really. I retired from contact rugby last year as my coaching commitments were taking over and that was where I saw my involvement going long term. If I had to pick a team it would be Northampton Saints, before they won the Premiership even! Or Glasgow Warriors as I'm originally from East Kilbride.

Will you be following the Rugby Sevens at the Commonwealth Games?

Yes. I'm coming up for the Sevens and taking my dad and two oldest nephews, both of whom have also tried playing rugby. I'm looking forward to soaking up the atmosphere.

What teams/players are you looking forward to seeing perform?

It has to be New Zealand for the skill in their game, Scotland obviously and the Americans for all out pace hopefully. It's a shame there is no women's 7s at the Games. I think it might be due to a clash with the women's World Cup but don't quote me on that. Though particularly with Rio coming up, hopefully they'll impress at the Olympics and it will be included in the future.

Do you think the Rugby Sevens at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games will provide a positive legacy for the sport in Scotland in the future?

I hope so, having played against Scotland in the UK School Games (don't tell anyone but we won…traitor). The level was good but they had nowhere near the level of coaching input as our girls, and just general support overall such as the Achieving Academic and Sporting Excellence programme. I hope that it boosts men's and women's rugby again in Scotland as I think we have struggled in recent years to find consistency. I think we need more depth to the talent pool as other stronger nations have.

Name: Rebecca Jarvie

Age: 30

Location: Edinburgh

Rugby background as a fan: I have been a rugby fan since I was a little girl. My dad has always been a keen follower and started taking me to games with him, and I was quickly hooked. Nothing quite like match day at Murrayfield followed by an afternoon in the pub.

Will you be following the Rugby Sevens at the Commonwealth Games?

I certainly will. Rugby 7's is a much faster game lasting only 14 minutes in comparison to the normal 80, but a lot happens in 14 minutes! I've already ordered my tickets for both days and hopefully will manage to get tickets for the final.

What teams/players are you looking forward to seeing perform?

I will obviously be supporting Scotland. I'm thoroughly looking forward to their first match against New Zealand although I doubt we stand a chance against the forever dominating All Blacks. Having met some of the team I'm also looking forward to watching Barbados after they were confirmed as replacements for Nigeria.

Do you think the Rugby Sevens at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games will provide a positive legacy for the sport in Scotland in the future?

I really hope so. One big thing that Scotland has always lacked is fresh young talent. It's a sport that is greatly overshadowed by football in schools and I'd love to see more youngsters get into the sport.

Name: Aaron Gissing

Age: 39

Location: Auckland, NZ

Rugby background as a player: Not a lot really. I spent my early school years avoiding tackles on the wing until the big guys got too fast for me and then switched codes.

Rugby background as a fan: I'm a Kiwi. We pretty much pop out with a silver fern on our chest. I can't remember a time when I wasn't following the All Blacks. I've been a long suffering Waikato Chiefs fan but finally enjoying the glory days with back-to-back titles.

Will you be following the Rugby Sevens at the Commonwealth Games?

Yep, I'll have my Sky set up to record all the New Zealand games.

What teams/players are you looking forward to seeing perform?

New Zealand naturally, though I still find it weird that the New Zealand 7's team (and the NZ Maori's team) are now called the All Blacks too… What I love about Titch's (Gordon Tietjens) ability as a coach is the talent he brings forward. We've seen so many legends of the New Zealand game come out of his 7's squad. So I can't wait to what young stars that are going to shine during the games.

From a Kiwi point of view what does New Zealand's representation at the Commonwealth mean to you?

If I'm 100 per cent honest, I care very little for the Commonwealth itself, but I do enjoy the Games.
