GEORGE MUNSEY will be happy to be branded a short-game specialist if he can fire Scotland to a morale-boosting win against Ireland today.
Munsey is set for his T20 cap debut when the Scots face their Celtic rivals in the first of a three-match series in Bready.
The games will help both countries prepare for next month's World T20 Qualifier which they will co-host and Grange star Munsey is desperate to help Scotland claim the psychological edge.
The big-hitting opener said: "I'm really excited about the Ireland series. It is a fantastic opportunity for me to show what I can do at this level and in this format of the game.
"Ireland are a great side and have caused upsets against some of the bigger nations but we have a strong team and we certainly don't fear them.
"The T20 format seems to suit my skills so I'll be going all out to help the guys win the series."
Munsey, who made a modest entrance to the international stage in last summer's 50-over series against New Zealand, has been the man-of-the-summer so far with a series of scintillating displays. He has already registered scores of 177no for Grange and 176 while on trial at Notts as well as boasting the best strike-rate of any batsman in the North Sea Pro Series.
"My natural style is to hit the ball hard and that's what I'll aim to do against Ireland," added Munsey.
Forfarshire's Craig Wallace, another in-form locally based player, is also likely to feature during the series while the Scots are boosted by the presence of three of their county contracted players. However, Durham's Calum MacLeod and Rob Taylor of Leicestershire are unavailable and will join the squad for the World Cup qualifiers.
Meanwhile Ireland have drafted in David Rankin --brother of England and Warwickshire paceman Boyd - who is likely to make his debut today.
The sides meet again tomorrow and Sunday.
