HIGHLANDERS completed a clean sweep in the T20 phase of the inaugural North Sea Pro Series last night with a tense triumph over the Dutch Seafarers in Raeburn Place.

In a contest which suffered rain interruptions the bowling attack rose to the occasion when it mattered to shoot out the visitors 10 runs short of the target. The hosts had reached 150 for eight after losing a spate of early wickets, including that of the big-hitting Michael Leask. But the Stoneywood-Dyce all rounder took revenge by claiming two late wickets to curb the spirited chase of the Seafarers.

There was another dose of frustration for Scotland's other pro team, the Reivers. They appeared to be heading for a humiliating defeat at the hands of the Hurricanes in Deventer after being skittled for 73. But they burst back into the contest to go close to pulling off an unlikely success, the home brigade only scraping their win by one wicket off the final delivery.

In club cricket, the Aberdeen derby took centre stage on Saturday and, once again, the 23-year-old Leask emerged as the form player for Stoneywood-Dyce, his side crossing the city to Mannofield for a convincing win over Aberdeenshire.

Leask first took four wickets, including the key one of the league's top scorer Chris Venske, as the hosts were dismissed for 156 despite a half-century from their young South African amateur Hayes van der Berg.

The Stoneywood-Dyce captain then scored 55 with the bat from 33 deliveries, on a day when most struggled. He was eventually outscored by Schalk Conradie, who cautiously compiled 65 from 124 balls as victory was achieved with more than 10 overs to spare.
