SCOTT Booth declared himself happy with a good week's work after watching his new side Glasgow City beat Celtic 3-0 at the Excelsior Stadium to stay top of the SWPL.

The eight-time champions struggled to break down a well-organised Celtic defence in the opening 45 minutes, but a lapse of concentration allowed Abbi Grant to break the deadlock seconds before the interval.

City were dominant in the second period and a cracking volley from Clare Shine Lauren McMurchie's downward header ensured Booth's first game in charge would land all three points.

"This whole week has been good from start to finish," said Booth, who was appointed to replace Eddie Wolecki Black on Tuesday.

"The commitment the players give you is second to none. They are so switched on, and their professional attitude is definitely an eye-opener for me. I've really enjoyed it.

"We started a bit nervously and our passing could have been better in the first half. When we got the goal you could feel the players settle. Sometimes you get a bit of luck, but what I did like was that Abbi got herself into a good position to take advantage.

"In the second half the passing and movement was better, and we were still aggressive with our pressing to not allow Celtic to settle.

"I was pleased with Clare's finish. It was a great goal and will do her confidence a lot of good. It's always nice when you work a set piece and it comes off."

Celtic head coach David Haley said: "It was disappointing to lose a goal at the end of the first half. It's a poor ball into the box and they've scored from it.

"I thought we did enough in the first half to go in 0-0, but the second half they completely dominated and fair play to them. I don't think there was any doubt about the result."

Hibs maintained their strong title challenge with a 2-0 win over Aberdeen at Albyn Park. Lizzie Arnott and Abi Harrison scored the goals that keep them level on points with City, but behind on goal difference.
