SCOTT ALLAN has submitted a formal transfer request at Hibernian as he looks to clinch a move to boyhood heroes Rangers this summer.

The midfielder was the subject of two bids - the second worth £225,000 - from the Light Blues last week but the Easter Road board have so far stood firm in their battle to hold on to their key man.

Herald Sport revealed last week that Rangers were poised to return to the table with a third offer for Allan as boss Mark Warburton bids to bolster his squad ahead of the new Championship campaign.

And the 22-year-old has now attempted to force Hibs' hand after informing the club that he wishes to leave and join their second tier title rivals this month.

Allan, who is out of contract at the end of the season, started on the bench as Hibs lost 6-2 to Rangers in the Petrofac Training Cup on Saturday before boss Alan Stubbs reiterated his desire to retain the services of the playmaker.

A Hibs spokesperson said: "In the face of continued media interest, Hibernian Football Club can confirm that Scott Allan has today handed in a written transfer request.

"This comes on the back of two unwelcome and uninvited approaches from Rangers FC regarding Scott, the first for £175,000 and the second for £225,000.

"Hibernian FC has refused both bids because the Club has no wish to transfer a valuable player to strengthen a major rival in the battle to win the Championship and gain promotion to the Premiership.

"Hibernian’s position has not changed. The player will not be sold to Rangers."
