Alloa manager Danny Lennon says that Rangers loan-star Robbie Crawford has come to the perfect place to help him develop into a fixture in the Ibrox first-team.

The versatile 22-year-old, who has been at Rangers since he was eight, made his first-team breakthrough in 2012 when the Light Blues were competing in the Third Division.

He has since gone on to make 57 competitive appearances, scoring 7 goals for the Gers.

He has failed to feature so far this term under new Rangers manager Mark Warburton though, and has gone to Recreation Park in search of regular first-team football.

Lennon was delighted to secure his services, saying: "We have signed Robbie on loan from Rangers for the rest of the season.

“He is 22 years old, but has a great deal of experience under his belt already with 57 appearances for Rangers and 12 appearances for Morton during a short term loan last season.

“He is an attacking midfielder who plays on the right and in the centre.

“He has 8 goals and 7 assists in his young career so far and we fully expect he will add to that tally in an Alloa shirt this season.

“He is keen to prove he has what it takes to play at the highest level and we believe that Alloa can give him the right platform in the Championship to make the kind of contributions, week in, week out that prove that he has that kind of quality."

Meanwhile, Cowdenbeath manager Colin Nish has admitted that he was a little shocked to have landed Rangers youngster Andy Murdoch on-loan until January.

The 20-year-old ended last season as a first-choice in the Rangers midfield, making 21 appearances in all throughout the course of the 2014/15 season.

Like Crawford though, he has found his top-team opportunities restricted so far this campaign under Mark Warburton, and Nish was only too happy to provide the gifted young star a platform for regular football at Central Park.

“I’m really delighted to have signed Andy, and quite surprised to be honest,” Nish said.

“We knew he might become available and it was something we were always wanting to do, but I didn’t know if we would be able to get him.

“I thought he might go a little higher or even stay at Rangers because he’s an excellent young player with a future ahead of him in the game.
