Dundee manager Paul Hartley believes actions will speak louder than words as his players seek redemption following their shock cup exit.
Hartley was left perplexed by their poor performance as the Ladbrokes Championship's bottom club St Mirren inflicted Dundee's first home defeat in six matches to knock them out of the William Hill Scottish Cup.
But Hartley felt it was more important to focus on Friday's Premiership encounter at Aberdeen rather than pore over their 2-0 loss.
"We have got to pick ourselves up," the Dundee boss said. "We had a disappointing weekend, we have tried to find answers with what went wrong, but that's the same team that beat St Johnstone convincingly.
"So the players let themselves down. They didn't perform, they performed badly. We didn't see it coming but we have had to pick them up on Monday, that is part and parcel of the game.
"Since the players came in on Monday we have focused on the Aberdeen game, because we are going to face a really good team who are high in confidence. So we have to make sure we are right for that.
"The players know themselves they didn't perform to the best of their ability. We can talk all day but it's action.
"I don't really need to tell them that much, they know they didn't perform and they saw the reaction of the supporters. They know they are better than what they showed, so they have got a great opportunity on Friday night in front of the TV cameras to go and put on a good show."
Hartley has also experienced more frustration in the transfer market as he looks to make his first signing of the window.
"It's really difficult to get the right type of player," he said. "We will try our best right up until the window.
"We want to add to the squad but it has to be a little bit of quality, that's what we are looking for in the final third. But that's hard to come by and they cost money. We have been priced out of a few players so far."
