ABERDEEN have announced the signing of Inverness Caledonian Thistle midfielder Greg Tansey on a pre-contract agreement.

The 28-year-old is one of eight Caley players with contracts expiring at the end of the season and the Dons have pounced to take him on a free transfer.

Tansey has put pen to paper on a three-year deal at Pittodrie and will officially join the club on June 9.

The former Stockport and Stevenage midfielder has scored five goals in 28 Ladbrokes Premiership outings for Richie Foran's side this term.

"He is a player we have admired for a long time and he will be a very welcome addition to the squad here at Pittodrie," said Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes.

"He is a confident player, exactly the type of player we want to see at our club. There is more to come from Greg and I'm sure we will provide the perfect platform for him to develop."

It is the second time Tansey has departed the Highland club, having left to join Stevenage in 2012 before returning two years later.
