ALAN ARCHIBALD believes Partick Thistle are two wins away from the safety of a top-six finish.

The Maryhill men are in sixth place in the Ladbrokes Premiership, two points ahead of Kilmarnock with four games to go before the split.

The Jags host ninth-placed Ross County on Saturday and 10th-placed Motherwell next week, but face Celtic and Rangers away in their other two fixtures.

Thistle boss Archibald believes six points should be enough to secure a top-half finish.

He said: "I would expect it to. It would be massive to go and do that.

"We have tough, tough home games. The games get bigger and bigger and every game we have got, someone is fighting for something, desperate to win the game.

"The only way to get away from the relegation battle is to get in the top six.

"We realise the difference that makes.

"We missed out by a point last year and two games later we were going to Kilmarnock in a relegation battle.

"So we know quickly things can change, that is why it is so vital to get into the top-six and make sure you can sit back, relax and enjoy the remainder of the season."

While the pressure to stave off relegation dominates the thoughts of the bottom seven teams in the Ladbrokes Premiership, the battle to get into the top-flight is bringing its own pressures.

Hibernian boss Neil Lennon and Morton counterpart Jim Duffy became the talk of Scottish football after their highly-publicised spat at Easter Road on Wednesday night.

Both men were sent to the stand as tempers flared near the end of the goalless draw which kept the home side 10 points clear at the top of the Ladbrokes Championship as Morton moved into second.

Ton's Kudus Oyenuga was sent off for a tackle on Jordon Forster and Hibs defender Darren McGregor was dismissed for violent conduct.

Archibald said: "It is always funny when it is someone else.

"It just shows you the passion of two very very experienced managers.

"It is good when it is not you involved because it is the red mist descending, and you see what happens."
