GREENOCK MORTON'S Jim Duffy has won the Ladbrokes Championship manager of the year award for the 2016/17 season.

The 58-year-old led the Cappielow club to the Premiership play-offs after a fourth-placed finish.

Ton fell to a 5-1 aggregate defeat against Dundee United to end their promotion dream at the quarter-final stage, but Duffy has been widely praised for masterminding an impressive campaign.

The former Brechin City and Clyde boss was named manager of the month in October after winning four league games in a row, but his side ended the campaign disappointingly with an 11-match winless run.

Hibernian midfielder John McGinn picked up the Championship player of the year award on Wednesday after helping the Easter Road side back to the top-flight by winning the title.
