HEARTS have announced that their opening two home games against Kilmarnock and Motherwell cannot be played at Tynecastle.

The Jambos stadium is currently undergoing renovations on the main stand and the club had agreed with the Scottish Professional Football League not to schedule any home fixtures until the work's completion on 9 September.

However, the 2017/18 Ladbrokes Premiership fixtures were published on Friday morning with Hearts scheduled to play home games on 12 and 26 August against Killie and 'Well respectively.

The club said in a statement that the SPFL's computer model could not accommodate the scheduling and that despite the published list there is 'absolute clarity and agreement' that the games will not be played at Tynecastle.

Hearts are now exploring their options for rearranging the two league matches and say that an announcement will be made shortly.

Aberdeen will be the maiden visitors to the refurbished Gorgie stadium when they visit on 9 September.

The Jambos' begin their campaign away to champions Celtic and have the first Edinburgh derby of the season to look forward to at Easter Road on 25 October.
