Hamilton defender Alex Gogic has admitted that "silly errors" have cost them early in the season.

Accies made a positive start to the campaign after narrowly avoiding relegation to the Championship, picking up seven points in their first four games.

However, back-to-back defeats and a run of four games without a clean sheet have left manager Martin Canning frustrated on the sidelines, and Gogic admits some of the goals have been preventable.

"It's easy goals," he told Press Association Sport. "But I don't know if it's (just) the defence.

"It's individual, silly errors but I think we are working on that and will improve for sure.

"It's just disappointing that the results have not gone the way we thought they would go. Especially at Hearts, I think we could have won the game.

"Sometimes maybe it's about concentration, I don't really know."

Hamilton were beaten 2-1 by the Tynecastle outfit on Saturday after conceding what Canning considered to be two soft goals, and were 2-0 down against Kilmarnock after an individual error was made out wide.

The manager hinted at a desire for better concentration from his players, and Gogic says it is something he has been preaching in training.

The Cypriot said: "He tells us to always keep focused and keep concentrating.

"Throughout training he wants us to keep focusing, (and) don't lose concentration.

"It doesn't matter what we're doing, throughout the whole training session he wants us to be fully focused."

Accies travel to St Johnstone on Saturday hoping to serve up another defeat to Tommy Wright's side, who lost their unbeaten start to the season with a loss at strugglers Dundee, and Gogic is confident of pulling off an upset.

"As you can see in this league, everyone can beat everyone...well, apart from Celtic," he said. "Hibs beat Rangers and then we beat Hibs.

"That's the nice thing about this league, but it gives us confidence, 100 per cent I think we can get the three points."
