JEROME Boateng last night revealed the Bayern Munich players are enjoying their football following the return of Jupp Heynckes as manager and were determined to get back to winning ways against Celtic.

Carlo Ancelotti’s difficult spell at the Allianz Arena ended last month when his side were beaten 3-0 by Paris Saint-Germain in their second Group B match in France.

Boateng, the Germany centre half who was sidelined with a series of muscle injuries last season, has admitted he considered leaving the Bavarian giants after hardly featuring under the Italian.

However, the former Manchester City player featured in the 5-0 win over Bundesliga rivals Freiburg on Saturday and admitted he had relished working under the two-time Champions League winner Heynckes.

“With the nice job that we have, you don’t need to be motivated by the coach,” the 29-year-old said. “But, of course, how the coach treats the players plays an important role. You can see from how we played at the weekend that we are having fun playing again and the coach is doing a good job.

“I am confident. I am healthy and I want to stay healthy. I am looking forward to every minute that I can play. The coach gives us a lot of confidence and we want to pay him back for that.

“I think the pressure is always there at this club. This will be a very important match for us, especially after the defeat in our last match. We want to make up for that with victory against Celtic tonight. We know what is at stake and we are all very motivated for this game.”
