ABERDEEN have tied down promising defender Scott McKenna on a new contract until 2021.

The centre-back has broken into Derek McInnes' plans in recent weeks, starting in the Dons' last three Ladbrokes Premiership matches.

Last season's runners-up confirmed on Thursday that McKenna, a Scotland Under-21 international, has now committed to the Pittodrie club for a further three seasons.

The 20-year-old spent part of last season on loan at Ayr United, where he scored one goal in 12 appearances.

He has now broken into the first team, as well as playing every minute of the Scotland Under-21 side's impressive start to the Euro 2019 qualifying campaign over the last two months.
