OWEN COYLE was relieved to get Ross County's first Ladbrokes Premiership win of the season in Dingwall.

Goals from substitutes Alex Schalk and Thomas Mikkelsen cancelled out Greg Docherty's first-half opener to hand the Staggies a 2-1 victory – their first at the Global Energy Stadium since they beat Accies in May.

Coyle praised his side's character in coming from behind to take the three points. He said: "I thought it was thoroughly deserved.

"We should never have lost the game last week [against Hearts], so it was important to win that first league match at home.

"The character we showed on going behind, when we should have been in front in the first half, was excellent.

"We took control and had some great chances. The keeper had a wonder save from Billy Mckay's header. We looked a real threat but lost the goal from the set play at the corner. Hamilton were dangerous – credit to them."

Accies boss Martin Canning was left to bemoan his side giving away a comfortable position in the game.

He explained: "It seems to be the story of the last five or six weeks – we seem to find a way to lose games. It's a poor place to be. That's bugging me but we're a little bit naive and green.

"We've got a lot of young players just making their way in the game and every time they switch off and make a mistake, we seem to be getting punished for it.

"The last goal was just criminal. To be pushing for a goal and leave ourselves that exposed at the back is scary. There's no organisation, no communication and no one taking charge."
