CHRIS Burke said he always believed Kilmarnock could get something at Ibrox last night - and the last gasp draw was the least that the Rugby Park side deserved.

The former Rangers winger popped up with the injury time equaliser which allowed Kilmarnock to return to Ayrshire with a point, quite a return considering the hosts were a goal to the good and standing over a penalty before they self-destructed late on.

“You can tell everyone’s getting anxious when the time’s going on,” he said.

“Everybody’s a little bit on edge and on their seat because they’re not killing the game off. But I think we gave as good as we got. We were terrific, especially the second-half. We showed a lot of belief, took a lot of positives from the game and I think in the end we have to be a little bit disappointed we didn’t take the full three points."

Clarke said that it was “good to be back” in the dug-out and said he was mystified about any confusion surrounding the late dismissal of Ryan Jack for a headbutt, an award given by the fourth official after referee Alan Muir had booked both he and Kirk Broadfoot.

“The last five minutes was a bit crazy but we capitalised on that when there was maybe a bit of turmoil. We kept our focus and Jamie redeemed himself and saved the penalty then we broke quickly and got the equaliser that we deserved.”
