Leipzig manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has claimed that Marvin Compper's future may be compromised by the club's current injury issues.

Brendan Rodgers, the Celtic manager, is keen on securing the services of the out of favour defender and will look to bring him into the Parkhead club in January.

However, injury issues meant that Compper was drafted in over the weekend in Leipzig's draw against Mainz.

And there could be a bit of posturing between the clubs if the 32-year-old is to get his move to Glasgow to help add some solidity to Celtic's defence.

"I don't want to get rid of any player in January," claimed Hasenhuttl. "It's a squad game and we need them all, especially as we have had a lot of injuries recently.

"Also, Marvin has never come to me and said he's unhappy or put in a transfer request."
