JOSH WINDASS admits Rangers’ blueprint for success convinced him to commit his long-term future to Ibrox.
SportTimes revealed on Friday that the midfielder would follow the lead of team-mate James Tavernier and put pen-to-paper on a new three-and-a-half-year deal with the Light Blues.
And Windass is determined to go from strength to strength under the guidance of boss Graeme Murty in the coming months.
He said: “It’s a good feeling to be rewarded with the form I have been in, and hopefully I can carry it on.
“I had a couple of years left on my current contract anyway, so I was never going to leave. To get a renewal to that too is nice.
“One of the main reasons behind me renewing my contract was being told by Mark [Allen] and the club about the vision and the direction they want to go in, and that’s something I want to be a part of.
“It has been brilliant, and he has shown the belief in me that I always had in myself. Hopefully we can carry our relationship on and push the club forward together.
“I always feel I have been able to play well under any circumstances, but the gaffer has come in and shown a lot of belief in me, which I really appreciate.

The deal for Windass is another major boost for Rangers as boss Murty looks to finish the campaign on a high by leading his side to second spot in the Premiership and Scottish Cup glory.
The 24-year-old has scored 12 goals in 30 appearances this term but he isn’t finished in the final third yet.
Windass told RangersTV: “I feel I have been played in the position I like to play in, and I feel I have improved in terms of goals and assists.
“I want to hit 20 goals this season, so hopefully I can get that before the end of the campaign. It’s a big ask but hopefully I can do it.
“In every area, you have always got to improve, even on your strengths. I look to improve my weaknesses too every day on the training pitch, and I’ll be looking to do that towards the end of the season.
“The facilities here speak for themselves and the squad and staff we have here just now have full belief in me to go and be a good player.
“Hopefully they can help my development in these next few years and I can push on.”
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
