NEIL Lennon has revealed that he considered taking Kenny Miller back to Hibernian from Rangers last summer and again in January and will consider signing him again in the close season.

Miller has been suspended by the Ibrox club following a dressing room bust-up in the wake of the William Hill Scottish Cup semi-final defeat to Celtic at Hampden on Sunday.

It is unlikely the former Scotland internationalist, who is in an unprecedented third spell at his boyhood heroes, will play for Rangers again.

Lennon, who played with Miller for a season at Celtic, admitted that he had looked at bringing the Edinburgh-born forward, who started his career at Hibs, back to Easter Road twice this term.

The Northern Irishman, whose side take on Ladbrokes Premiership champions elect Celtic at home tomorrow, stressed he would look at his position at the end of the 2017/18 campaign.

“He is still a Rangers player, but I would assume he would be free at the end of the season and maybe that will be something I will look at,” he said.

“I was interested in him at the start of the season but he decided to stay on and there was a slight chance in January again before the injury so maybe it is something I may pursue again in the summer. But it is not at the top of my agenda at the minute.”

Lennon is confident Miller, who has also been linked with Motherwell, can play on at a high level for some time to come given his physical condition and believes he has a great deal to offer a side.

“The only thing is his age, but Kenny has looked after himself brilliantly and has had an incredible career,” he said. “He is a good pro and that is why he is still playing at the level he is playing at, because he has looked after himself so well. He still has that football intelligence.”
